Private label is less about the logo and more about the sequence of approvals. Most delays come from one of three points: artwork, sample sign-off, or packaging.
Artwork and colour references
Laser marking, moulded logos and metal badges each need different artwork. Supply vector files and a physical colour reference — a Pantone number or a coated sample — rather than a screen colour. Confirm where the mark sits on the product, not just what it looks like.
The sample stage
A pre-production sample typically takes two to three weeks depending on whether new tooling is involved. Build review time into the plan: one round of comments is normal, two is common, and each round adds a week. Sign off on the sample that will actually be replicated, and keep photos of it.
MOQ reality
MOQ is usually set by the smallest run the line can start economically, not by the supplier being difficult. Mixed-colour and mixed-model orders can often share a production slot, which lowers the effective minimum per SKU. Ask directly whether a mixed container is possible.
Lead time after deposit
For a repeat order with existing tooling, four to six weeks of production plus sea freight is realistic. New tooling, new packaging or a peak-season slot can add two to three weeks. The useful question is not what your lead time is, but what has to be approved before the clock starts.
