Each arm pulls on its own lever, so the shoulders can travel through their natural arc instead of being locked to a bar. The handles sit low, so the pull comes from the bottom of the lat rather than from the traps.
The chest pad sets the start stretch and the handles rotate to keep the wrist neutral at the finish.
