The thigh pad holds the hips against the seat, so the hamstring works without the lower back arching to help.
The shin pad moves along the lever, which changes the torque curve for different leg lengths.
The frame is 3 mm steel tube throughout, powder coated twice and baked twice. Pivots run on sealed bearings and the wear pads are replaceable. Free OEM on logo plate, colour and packaging.
